What Does NPIP Mean?
NPIP stands for the National Poultry Improvement Plan, a cooperative program between poultry owners, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the USDA designed to monitor and help prevent the spread of certain poultry diseases.
At Magnolia Run, participating in NPIP means we maintain and test our breeding flock according to the program's health and disease-monitoring requirements.
For Virginia poultry owners, NPIP is especially important when buying, selling, or shipping chicks and hatching eggs across state lines. Virginia has specific health requirements governing poultry entering the Commonwealth, and NPIP participation provides recognized documentation of a flock's qualifying health status.
For our customers, it's another layer of confidence that we're taking flock health, biosecurity, and responsible breeding seriously.
What NPIP does NOT mean: NPIP certification isn't a guarantee that a bird can never become sick, nor is it a certification that a flock is free from every poultry disease. Rather, it verifies participation in established testing and disease-control programs for specific poultry diseases.
For us, NPIP isn't just paperwork—it's part of our commitment to raising and sharing healthy birds responsibly.
